About Emma

Hello, thank you for taking a moment to read through my profile.

I am currently in my third and final year of a doctorate in counselling psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University. I have worked alongside children, young people and families for over fifteen years in mental health services, schools and community-based settings.

I provide a safe, compassionate and accepting environment for young people to explore their current challenges and tailor my approach to their unique personality and needs. The core of my work focuses on nurturing a strong therapeutic relationship as well as emphasising the collaborative nature of psychological therapy. I aim to help young people understand and overcome difficulties they may be facing and support them with identifying and developing their strengths to help move towards meaningful, lasting change.

When working with young people, I take a curious, non-judgmental approach to understanding the wider world in which they exist, which may include school, community and family environments. Working together to support a young person is often an integral part of the journey to improved and sustained wellbeing.

I am passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals and I am dedicated to developing neuro-affirmative practices and encouraging self-advocacy. I am trained in traditional talking therapies, including person-centred and cognitive behavioural approaches, as well as the use of play and creative therapeutic methods to engage with experiences and emotions that may be difficult to verbalise.

Emma is not currently taking new clients. Please get in contact to join the wait list.
